September 2024 Round-Up: Roadmap’s Proven Approach to Annual Planning

How Roadmap leverages the Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS) to create a data-driven, actionable plan. And, how we use AI to make meetings more productive.

At Roadmap, our approach to our annual planning and strategy session is rooted in the proven framework of the Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS). By leveraging EOS, we create a clear, actionable roadmap that aligns our goals, priorities, and processes for the upcoming year.

In preparation for our annual session, we gather key insights and data to update our sales, marketing and operating plans. This approach enables us to break down complex objectives into manageable steps, ensuring each team member is empowered and focused on achieving meaningful results. This comprehensive approach allows us to set ambitious yet attainable targets, foster accountability, and drive sustainable growth in an ever-evolving market landscape.

The Result

  • An informed, efficient, productive and simple planning process.
  • A cohesive strategy and operating plan designed to achieve customer success, enhance employee engagement and drive business growth.
  • An operating plan our customers and team are excited about and invested in - because we built it together.

How do we achieve this?
It all begins with thoughtful, thorough preparation. Our process is grounded in gathering meaningful insights and data across key areas.

  • Customer Insights: After every project, we collect feedback through our Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) surveys, ensuring we maintain a high CSAT score. Additionally, we conduct an annual Net Promoter Score (NPS) survey and engage directly with a selection of our tier-one customers to gain deeper insights into their experiences and needs.
  • Employee Insights: Our team’s perspective is just as important. We run an annual employee survey to capture our internal NPS, helping us identify areas for improvement and ensuring that employee engagement remains high.
  • Competitor and Market Research: Staying ahead of the curve requires up-to-date knowledge of the market. We refresh our competitor and industry research regularly, uncovering emerging trends, new opportunities, and insights that drive strategic decisions.

This data-driven preparation forms the backbone of our planning process, ensuring we’re equipped with the knowledge needed to build strategies that drive success.

Our success is planned and deliberate. With the foundation laid, we integrate these powerful insights into our overarching strategy and plans, ensuring we move forward with precision and purpose:

  • Three-Year Strategy: A clear vision for long-term growth, aligning our team around shared goals that drive sustained success and position us ahead of the competition.
  • Annual Sales Plan: A focused approach to driving revenue growth, grounded in market insights and customer feedback, ensuring we capture new opportunities and deepen customer relationships.
  • Annual Marketing Plan: A dynamic marketing strategy designed to resonate with our audience, leveraging competitive research and customer insights to create impactful campaigns that enhance brand awareness and drive engagement.
  • Annual Operations Plan: A streamlined, efficient operational framework that maximizes productivity and ensures our resources are allocated effectively, keeping us agile and responsive in an evolving market.

By integrating these insights, we transform data into action, creating plans that are not only strategic but also deeply aligned with our goals and customer needs.

Case Study Spotlight: Sky + Table

Sky + Table Event Group offers extraordinary event experiences through their family of brands.

The Need

Starting out as LA Chefs Catering in 2006, the brand had grown over the past 18 years, adding venue management, planning, and decor offerings to become a full-service event management company. They changed their name to LA Chefs Catering and Events, however, this didn’t accurately reflect the evolution of the brand.

The Challenge

The team at LA Chefs Catering and Events had some assumptions about their brand. They believed their name could be causing some confusion with customers, but they also had a great reputation in the community of Lethbridge that was attached to that name. The challenge was to understand customers' current perceptions so that we could create a clear path forward. Our goal was to create a new brand that retained this credibility while reflecting the evolution and breadth of service offerings, as well as act as the umbrella to a family of brands. Their website was also dated, difficult to navigate and could not be updated without a developer's assistance.

Learn more about how we worked with them to deliver a strategy, brand, new name, and website to match the evolution of their service offerings.

Make Meetings Productive with AI

Unfortunately, not every meeting can be an email.

When it can't, use AI to document the outcomes of your meeting, think of action items, next steps, and who is responsible for what.  With AI taking notes, everyone else in attendance can focus on the meeting, really get into a focused mindset, and know that after the meeting ends it does become an email (summary).

This short clip explains ways you can leverage AI in your meetings. Or discover other ways AI can boost productivity at your organization by watching our full AI webinar.
